And if you are looking for something else to do, make the short trip to the Kamehameha Day Celebration at the Keauhou Shopping Center to celebrate Hawaiian history. Another great place to explore the history of the area is Hulihe‘e Palace, which houses artifacts and hosts cultural events throughout the year, all hosted in the former summer home of Hawaiian royalty.
 
There are some great beaches near the Kona Hills area, so head north to catch some sun, swim, and boogie board at Kua Bay. Or, if you would enjoy a visit to the beach with a historic tie-in go to Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park, which is a historic beachside wildlife refuge with ruins of early fish ponds and petroglyphs as well as a salt and pepper beach frequented by green sea turtles.
